Public outreach

Public outreach is of great importance to help increase the public’s education and understanding of planetary science. Our researchers are frequently involved and invited as experts to help explain recent developments in the news, or they give public talks on their research. Below you will find an overview of recent activities (by no means complete), to highlight our efforts to increase the public awareness and impact of our work.

Outreach fund KNAW

A team of researchers from our group, Sebastiaan de Vet, Stephanie Cazaux, Bart Root and Wouter van der Wal, were recently awarded an outreach grant by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). The special pilot fund ‘Science communication by scientists: Appreciated!’ supports scientists who are committed to science communication. The team was proposed to the KNAW by the dean on behalf of the Faculty Aerospace Engineering. The allocated funds will be used to support and/or develop new science communication activities of the team. The pilot fund is supported by the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science, which has made one million euros available for this purpose, to be allocated to teams at universities across The Netherlands.
